Alghero was founded in the thirteenth century. by the Genoese but in the second half of the fourteenth century, after various events, it was part of the crown of Aragon. The first fortifications were made by the Genoese and later by the Catalans but those that we can admire now date back to the 16th century and were built by the will of Ferdinand the Catholic. Along the walls overlooking the sea there are 7 towers and 3 forts.
